Not Everyone Came Home - POW/MIA Recognition Day

Recommended Posts

Congress established National POW/MIA Recognition Day  in 1998, it  is always held the third Friday in September and this year the date falls on September 20th. When I lived in Tulsa I was at the VVA POW/MIA "watch fire" almost every year either as a representative of the American Legion, VFW, DAV or just another 'Joe'.

It was also the day various veterans, scout and civic organizations got together to respectfully dispose of tattered American, State and POW flags...

I'm not aware of any area veterans organizations locally that sponsor POW/MIA Recognition Day watch fire but if anyone knows of one I'd be interested in possibly attending one again this year.
