  1. I had the nicest 4th I think I have ever had. No cooking for everyone, no clean up, watched the neighbors shoot their fireworks, very relaxing. I'm going to do that again next year.

  3. The wife and I joined up with the train in Frontenac. While waiting for others to arrive, I walked around and visited with some very nice folks. I was glad to see so many young people of voting age in the group. Once the train started rolling, the spirit of the event gained momentum. As we progressed southbound much of the northbound traffic honked, waved and flagged their approval and support. It was more fun than I expected.

  8. I read this story from a local (NBC) TV report ... KOAA News: Student suspended for waving toy gun during virtual class https://www.koaa.com/news/covering-colorado/student-suspended-for-waiving-toy-gun-during-virtual-class I fully understand the zero tolerance attitude for students bringing guns (even toy guns) onto the school property, and in a way I can even understand the teacher asking the police to conduct a welfare check to verify the gun she saw was indeed a "toy" and the child was in no danger... But beyond that, the suspension for the kid having a toy gun in

  9. Washington Times: Black Lives Matter Chicago organizer says looting is 'reparations': 'Businesses have insurance' A Black Lives Matter Chicago organizer said Monday that the mobs who vandalized and looted downtown businesses the night before did nothing wrong, calling it “reparations” for Black suffering. “That is reparations,” Ariel Atkins, an organizer, told NBC Chicago. “Anything they wanted to take, they can take it because these businesses have insurance.” https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2020/aug/11/ariel-atkins-blm-chicago-organizer-says-looting-is/ By that

  11. I experienced much the same in the late 60s and early 70s. Even the teachers and coaches were intimidated. I clearly recall the first attempted mob beating, it must have been adrenaline and agility that pulled me through that unprovoked attack. Learning situational awareness and sometimes, stupidly standing my ground, seemed to divert attention to those that were less willing to get physical. In striking contrast, I met a black fellow last fall at my best friend's party. He is a country boy that was the only black kid in the country school they both attended as kids. He was admired

  12. Good points. I attended school in Wichita back in the early 70's when there were problems with riots due to racial tensions. I can tell you from first hand experience that people were attacked for absolutely no reason in the school where I went (I never even saw the guy that hit me from behind). Really have a hard time accepting BLM, their demonstrations then demanding equality and monetary compensation for someone's ancesters that they never knew. I certainly haven't accumulated great wealth, or any other benefits, from my family that was around 200 years ago.

  13. I've heard that moles like damp earth and worms and larva that also like damp earth so avoid watering lawns. Also the main food source of moles are said to be grubs, worms and insect larva, trying to eliminate their food source is supposed to discourage moles from hanging around... Like I said that's just what an old timer told me so consider the source.

  19. The Democrats of the House knew even before they started their impeachment probe they would likely fail to remove the president from office without significant proof of "treason, bribery high crimes or misdemeanors" if they turned articles of impeachment over to the Senate. Yet despite failing to come up with any evidence of a qualifying criminal offense required by the Constitution the House Democrats none the less voted to impeach president Trump and forward the articles of impeachment to the Senate... Honestly what did they think would happen? Did they believe the Senate would at

  24. BUMP - The Mayor of San Juan who has been in the news so much and has repetedly criticized Trump - By the way you're suggestion that conservatives or Republicans think all Puerto Ricans or Hispanics look "Mexican", Marco Rubio and other Republican or conservative Hispanics would no doubt consider a statement like that a racist stereotype as well. Like Hutch said: Puetro Rican's' and I'll add Mexicans and others of Hispanic heritage and ethnicity are as diverse in their appearance as any one else from any nation.
