Heartland Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Heartland), is seeking qualified candidates for the Facility Maintenance Technician position at our Girard location. Starting wage is around $17/hr. with outstanding retirement and other employee benefits. Duties include the following: • Building maintenance tasks including basic electrical, plumbing, and heating and air • Groundskeeping including lawnmowing, landscaping, snow removal and sidewalk clearing • Inspecting and maintaining backup generators and other equipment • Loading and unloading materials and equipment • Other duties as assigned Experience and Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, heating and air, and mechanical equipment is required. • Ability to stay organized and prioritize work. • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. • Ability to work effectively independently and as a member of a team. Physical Demands: • Ability to lift and move objects up to 75 pounds consistently with heavier weight necessary at times. • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs and moving your whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, and stooping. Work environment: • Ability to work in an environment in which the job is performed, especially any unique conditions outside a normal office environment, such as working in hot, cold, dusty, etc. conditions. In addition there is also the 1st Annual Throwdown in G-Town BBQ Cook-off to be held as part of the celebration! BBQ teams will be competing in 4 categories (chicken, ribs, pulled pork and brisket), handing out samples and putting their best BBQ up for judging in what I hope will become a yearly event!
